HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The Texas Tech University men's golf team shot a final round 309 in 1999 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, giving it a total of 916 for the tournament which placed it 11th overall.

Kansas won the event with a total of 857, besting second place Nebraska by two strokes at the 6637 yard, par 70 Prairie Dunes Country Club. Texas was third at 862.

The individual champion was David Gossett of Texas. He shot a one-under-par total of 209 which topped Chris Thompson of Kansas and Nebraska's Jamie Rogers by one stroke.

Leading Texas Tech and tying for 38th overall was sophomore Corey Henegar with a three-round total of 227. Senior Philip Tate finished one stroke behind Henegar at 228 and tied for 41st overall. Senior Alex Armstrong carded a final round 77, giving him a total of 232, good for a tie at 47th place. Sophomore Blake Smith tied for 52nd place at 236. Sophomore Matt Loving tallied a 238 which placed him 56th.
