LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head men's golf coach Greg Sands announced today that Kyle Willmann has signed a national letter of intent to attend the university and compete for the Red Raiders in the upcoming fall season. Willmann joins Brad Jacobson, who signed with Tech in the fall.

"I have really been impressed with Kyle," Sands said. "He is a winner, a competitor, and has tremendous character. Every team Kyle has played for has enjoyed success at the highest level. We are very excited about the addition of Kyle to the Texas Tech golf team."

Willmann recorded 16 top ten finishes in 20 tournaments in two seasons at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. He averaged 73.5 strokes per round and led the Apaches to the Junior College National Championship in 1998. In 1999, Willmann finished as the runner-up at the Junior College National Tournament.

A native of Edmond, Okla., Willmann prepped at Edmond North High School. He was the Class 5A State Champion in 1998 and helped lead Edmond North to two state championship team titles during four seasons.
