LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech finished the first day of the NCAA West Regional at 10-over par and in 14th place. The event is being played in Albuquerque, N.M., and is hosted by the University of New Mexico.

Texas Tech's David Bolen and Kyle Willmann lead the team in a 27th-place tie. Both golfers shot rounds of 73 and are plus-1 heading into second round action Friday. The 54-hole regional wraps up on Saturday. Also for the Red Raiders, Mark Hull and Brooks Kelly are tied in 77th place with rounds of 76, while Brad Jacobson is in a 93rd-place tie at 77.

The University of Texas turned in the days only under-par round as the Longhorns shot 3-under par to lead the event. San Diego State, Fresno State, Minnesota and UNLV round out the top five. The top 10 teams in will advance to the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio, next weekend.

Play resumes Friday morning at 9 a.m. (CT).
