LUBBOCK, Texas - A total of 96 players were named to the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars team announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Texas Tech's Garrett Merrell earned the distinction.

A 2008 All-Big 12 golfer, Merrell had a stroke average of 73.06 during the season. He placed third at the Big 12 Championships and finished in the Top 20 in six events. Merrell has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.436 and is majoring in business finance.

To be eligible for the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar team a student-athlete has to participate in 70-percent of the team's competitive round, have a stroke average of 76 or below and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2.
