LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team was honored this week as one of the 2013 All-Academic Teams chosen by the Golf Coaches Association of America and presented by Farmer's Insurance.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad lists for the academic year and have a combined 3.0 GPA or better.
"It's a tremendous honor for our guys because it shows how hard they work in the classroom," Tech head coach Greg Sands said. "Being a student-athlete involves a lot of dedication to your team and your studies and this helps validate all that hard work."
Tech golfers have been honored several times this season for its academic success. Finley Ewing IV, Henry Todd and Nathan Weant all earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors while Matias Dominguez and Clement Sordet were each named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
Ewing was also honored as the Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's golf and was recently named a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for Division I.
