LUBBOCK, Texas - Coming off a successful freshman campaign, Texas Tech's men golfer Clement Sordet has been recognized as one of the top collegiate golfers, by being placed on the Golf World's Players to Watch list.
The list, which is part of the publications September edition previewing the upcoming collegiate season, honors 50 players around the nation, and Sordet's strong collegiate debut last year made him an easy entry.
Sordet ended his first Red Raider season by earning PING All-Region honors, and his Top 10 finish at the Big 12 Championship earned him All-Big 12 Tournament honors. The rest of his spring season also went well, as he played in all nine spring tournaments including a win at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational and three consecutive Top 10 finishes. Sordet ended the season with a team-best 72.9 stroke average.
The Charbonnieres, France, native made a splash early on for the Red Raiders, as in the fall 2011 season he played in three tournaments, and won The Carmel Cup with a combined total of 209. He finished the season with a solid 73.2 strokes per round average.
Sordet lived up to the preseason hype to start his sophomore season with another strong performance at The Carmel Cup with a third place finish. He finished just one stroke behind teammate Finley Ewing IV.
