LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech golfer Nils Floren (Ljungskile, Sweden) stormed up the leaderboard with four birdies in his first nine holes en route to claiming a share of the Carpet Capital Collegiate individual title Sunday and was named Golfweek's College Player of the Week for his efforts.

Teeing off the final round from the No. 10 tee, Floren carded birdies on four holes through nine, before leveling off with a birdie and bogey on the back. His round of 68 tied as low round for the day and was the second straight round in the 60s (69). He was 6-under for the tournament and shared his title with Tennessee's Darren Renwick. The win is the first of his career and the fourth for a Floren at Texas Tech. Nils' older brother, Oscar, won three events during his All-American career as a Red Raider during the 2003-07 seasons.

The Red Raiders continue the 2009 fall season at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla., Oct. 3-4.
