LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech rookie golfer David Bolen led Texas Tech with a 20th place finish at the Big “E” Shootout in McKinney, Texas. The Red Raiders struggled on the final day to finish 13th in the 16-team field.

Bolen collected his second top 20 finish in just his second collegiate tournament. He opened the event with a 75 in the first round and fired a tournament-best 67 in the second round before today’s 82. Freshman Trey Pyka, last week’s co-medalist at the Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas, finished in 67th place. Mark Hull, Brooks Kelly and Corey Henegar also placed for the Red Raiders. Hull turned in a three-round total of 228 and tied in 33rd place. Kelly and Henegar finished tied in 58th and 78th places, respectively.

As a team, the Red Raiders turned in a 321 on the final day, after shooting a 291 in the second round. Tech opened the tournament with a 305.

The Red Raiders will hit the links again Oct. 8-9 at the Coca-Cola Classic in Las Cruces, N.M., on the University Golf Course at New Mexico State University.
