Men's Golf Seeking Its First Win at SMU Stonebridge Invitational|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's golf team looks to boost its fourth-place finish from last year's performance at the annual Stonebridge Invitational as it travels to McKinney, Texas, to compete in the 54-hole tournament, Oct. 21-22. The Red Raiders will have their work cut out for them as they look to outplay tournament host and two-time defending champion SMU Mustangs.
Tech is one of 14 teams competing in the tourney, which also includes Arkansas, Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Iowa State, Kent State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Notre Dame, Southeastern Louisiana, SMU, SMU JV, UT-Arlington and Western Kentucky.
Senior Brooks Kelly and junior Brian Smith will be looked upon for guidance on the golf course as the duo make their second appearance in the tourney. Last year, Kelly tied for 49th and Smith tied for 12th.
Red Raiders Brad Jacobson, Drew Hackler and Andrew Dresser will make their debut in the 54-hole championship. Jacobson has attained two top-20 finishes this season and currently leads the team with a 73.1 stroke average.
Sophomore Drew Hackler has garnered a couple notable finishes this season, placing in a tie for 11th at the International Collegiate, Sept. 6-7, and a tie for 25th at the Nestle' Purina Classic in St. Charles, Mo., Oct. 7-9. Freshman Andrew Dresser has played solidly in his first year as a Red Raider, competing in his fourth tournament.
Tech will play 36 holes Mon., Oct. 21, with the first round starting at 8:30 a.m. and the second round beginning at 1 p.m. on the par 72, 7,247 yard Dye Course at Stonebridge Country Club. Tee times for Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees on the Dye Course.
