The Texas Tech men's golf team and head coach Greg Sands announced the signing of three student athletes to its 2014 class on Friday.

Wes Artac (Kingwood, Texas), Devin Jackson (Hallsville, Texas) and Guillermo Pereira (Santiago, Chile) all signed National Letters of Intent with Texas Tech during the early NCAA signing period.

"This is without a doubt one of the best recruiting classes we've signed so far," said Sands, who enters his 14th season with the Red Raiders. "It's a talented group of golfers and people who will no doubt make Texas Tech proud on the course and in the classroom over the next four years."

Artac was an American Junior Golf Association Rolex Junior All-American Honorable Mention selection this past season and is ranked No. 54 in the world for boys by Golfweek. He won the AJGA Genesis Shootout at Fair Oaks Ranch in record fashion in July. Artac set a Live Oak Course record with a 10-under par 62 in his second round and cruised to five-stroke win in the 96-man field. He finished in the top 10 in each of his last five AJGA events this year.

He's won two USGA Junior Amateur Qualifiers (2011, 2013) and claimed the 2012 Texas State Junior Championship at Horseshoe Bay at the age of 16 and even beat out former Texas A&M golfer Matt Van Zandt for the 2013 club championship at The Deerwood Club in Kingwood.

"Wes is a great student athlete," Sands said. "Not only has he excelled in golf but he is also a tremendous student and will likely be awarded a Presidential Scholarship to Texas Tech. He is a fierce competitor and a very hard worker and I'm excited to have him join our team."

Jackson finished tied for fourth at the Class 4A State Championship in 2013 with a two-day score of 1-under par 139 after winning the District 14-4A title with a 64 in the final round. It was his second consecutive trip to the state tournament after becoming the first Hallsville golfer in program history to qualify for the state tournament in 2012.

He carried his success in the 2012 state tournament to the Texas Junior Golf Tour in the winter where he won the Traditions Fall Invitational at Texas A&M with a 2-under 142.

"Devin is a great player and great kid," Sands said. "His energy and love for the game of golf is infectious and I am excited about the work ethic he will bring to our team. Devin has the ability to take it very low. He's shot a lot of rounds in the 60s in competition and that is something that you love to see."

Pereira comes to Tech ranked 103rd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and top 20 for the Class of 2014. Pereira won the 2013 Abierto Las Brisas De Chicureo as an amateur. He fired a 289 over four rounds, including a 69 in his third round to edge out the professional field by one stroke.

He went on to finish third at the South American Junior Championship, ninth at the Toyota Junior Championship in Japan and 12th at the AJGA International Thunderbird.

"Guillermo is a great player who has really played well over the last year," Sands said. "He has won a professional event as an amateur and showed he can compete with best junior golfers in the world. Guillermo has a very calm demeanor on the course and is a tremendously gifted player and we are very excited to have him on our team."

The Red Raiders will spend the rest of the fall and winter practicing before beginning their spring campaign for a 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid. Tech begins the spring schedule on Feb. 6 in Kona, Hawaii at the Ameri Air Waikoloa Beach Resort Invitational.
