Texas Tech head men's golf coach Greg Sands officially announced a three-member signing class to national letters of intent Tuesday morning.
The highly-talented and diverse class consists of Corbin Kasten (Southlake, Texas) Adam Strom (Hovas, Sweden) and Hannes Ronneblad (Kugsbacka, Sweden).
"Overall, this is one of the best classes that I have signed in my 13 years at Texas Tech," Sands said. "And it certainly is based on the rankings. Both Strom and Hannes have been the in the top-300 in the world Amateur Golf Rankings. A lot of them have played in national and world-wide events, and done extremely well. The thing I am most excited about is the character and the work ethic that they bring to our program. Golf is very important to them, but academics is as well."
Having represented the Swedish National Team since 2007 in tournaments across Europe and the United States, Strom brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Red Raider squad. Strom recently captured a first place finish at the 2012 Hovas Open where he shot a 130 (-10). Meanwhile he has competed in two European Boys Championships and the European Young Championships.
Strom also finished second at the 2012 Isaberg Open shooting a 208 (-8).
A member of the 2012 European Boys Championship team, Ronneblad has captured four first place finishes in the last two years including a top finish at the 2012 South Africa World Junior Tournament .
A product of Southlake Carroll, Kasten earned All-State honors in 2012 after an impressive junior campaign where he finished first overall at the Jim McClean Invitational while guiding the Dragons to a District 7-5A Championship.
Texas Tech begins its 2013 spring season on Feb. 6 when the Red Raiders travel to Kona, Hawaii to compete at the Ameri Ari Invitational.
