Texas Tech Men's Tennis Travels to College Station
Red Raiders and Aggies to Make-Up Match Postponed Due to Weather
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team travels to College Station to play 58th-ranked Texas A&M Wednesday in a crucial Big 12 Conference match that was postponed from April 4 due to inclement weather.
The Red Raiders (10-12 overall, 3-5 in the Big 12) will join the Aggies (8-12, 3-5) and the other league squads at the inaugural Big 12 Tournament Thursday through Sunday in Austin. The Big 12 Tournament will be held at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center at the University of Texas.
Texas Tech could be seeded anywhere from sixth through eighth in the Big 12 Tournament, depending on the outcome of the match at Texas A&M. A win could give the Red Raiders a first-round bye. A loss would ensure a first-round match against either Missouri or Nebraska.
"This is a big match for us at Texas A&M," said Director of Tennis Tim Siegel. "A win would help our chances of getting into the NCAA Tournament and would give us an extra day of rest going into the Big 12 Tournament. Texas A&M has a good team. It will be a challenge for us, but we feel like we have been playing well lately and have a chance to move up in the conference. This is a new season and, I hope, our team is up to the challenge."
The Red Raiders and Aggies had begun their dual match on Friday, April 4 in College Station. The match was suspended due to rain and will be picked-up with the same lineups and same scores on Wednesday.
