Texas Tech Opens With Win

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech men's tennis team defeated Tyler Junior College 6-3 Saturday at Lubbock Country Club in the season-opener for both teams.

The Red Raiders won three singles matches and all three doubles matches to defeat the No. 1 junior college team in the nation.

"This was a tremendous win for us and I'm proud of our effort," Texas Tech head coach Tim Siegel said. "Tyler JC is deserving of its No. 1 ranking. I think they could beat a lot of teams in the Big 12 Conference."
