Mar. 21, 1997 Red Raiders Men's Tennis Falls to CowboysOklahoma State notches 6-1 victory to move to 8-1 overallLUBBOCK, Texas - The 38th-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team took a decisive 6-1 Big 12 Conference victory over Texas Tech today at the Lubbock Municipal Tennis Center. The Cowboys (8-1 overall, 2-1 in the Big 12) won at the top two doubles positions to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Texas Tech (4-8 overall, 0-2 in the Big 12) could only manage one singles win, a three-set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win by junior Tylir Jimenez over Martin Dvoracek at the number two singles slot. OSU's Chris Bates and Daniel Russo won three-set victories at the numbers three and six position to lead the Cowboys. "We didn't play well today," said Texas Tech Director of Tennis Tim Siegel. "All of the credit goes to Oklahoma State. They played well in a tough conference match on the road. We just aren't getting the individual performances that we expected when we entered the season. Hopefully, we can get back on track before we play the University of Oklahoma on Sunday." Texas Tech faces the Oklahoma Sunday at 1:30 at the Lubbock Municipal Tennis Center.
