Soares Joins Field At NCAA Championships

Red Raider Sophomore Will Face No. 22 Shane Vinsant of Texas A&M at 6 PM Tonight

2006-2007: Named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District VI by ESPN The Magazine for men's at-large teams ... received first-team Academic All-Big 12 and All-Big 12 singles honors ... was ranked No. 12 in the ITA/Fila preseason poll, going 12-3 in fall tournament play ... won both the Midland Racquet Club and ITA Regional Championships, first time in school history for this event ... ended the spring season ranked No. 42 with a record of 22-14, 3-3 in Big 12, playing No. 1 for the Red Raiders ... defeated Virginia Commonwealth's Petr Olsak, 6-4, 7-6(7), to clinch 4-1 win advancing his team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament ... is 7-3 in three-set matches ... was 7-9 versus ranked opponents, with most notable win over No. 4 Lars Poerschke, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the quarterfinals of the ITA Regionals ... won over Pennsylvania's Jason Pinsky to advance to the second round of the NCAA Individual Tennis Championships, first time in program history for this event ... falls in Tech's top 10 record book in six categories (two in 2005), including seventh in career singles winning percentage (.633), tied for fourth in single season singles victories (26), and holds record in career singles victories (69) and career doubles victories (43) ... played No. 1 doubles with teammate Christian Rojmar with a record of 9-9, 2-3 in conference play ... were ranked throughout the 2007 season, with the highest ranking being 33rd ... received All-Big 12 doubles honors ... team were 3-1 in clinching doubles point victories ... sit 2-8 against ranked opponents, including a win over Louisville's No. 9 Radman and Johnson, 8-6 ... duo lost in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championships in Athens, Ga., to Miami's No. 5 Cohen and D'Agord, 7-6(3), 6-1.

2005-2006: During the fall went 6-4 in singles action on the season, playing in the no. 1 spot...paired with Adrian Prpic, 1-1, and Christian Rojmar, 3-1, in doubles, including advancing to the finals with Rojmar at the Texas Invitational...was ranked no. 21 when participated in the ITA All-American Championships, but fell in consolation round of 16...played in the USTA $50,000 Challenger Tourney falling in the first round...medical redshirted the spring season.

2004-2005: NCAA Singles Championship qualifier ... named Academic All-American and All-District ... honored by the conference as All-Big 12 Singles ... filled the No. 1 and 2 spots in singles action and finished the season 26-9 after going 16-5 in spring ... paired with three different teammates for a record of 17-11 in doubles ... with Radek Nijaki, defeated No. 35 ranked duo from Wake Forest, 8-4.

2003-2004: Went 5-4 in singles action for the fall ... teamed with Teddy DiBlasi to go 5-3 in doubles action ... held a Big 12 doubles record of 1-3 ... posted a 10-9 singles record for the spring ... finished Big 12 play with a 2-4 singles record ... played No. 1 and No. 2 doubles ... teamed up with Esat Tanik to go 4-3 in doubles ... also teamed with Jakob Paulsen to go 3-5 in doubles ... concluded with a Big 12 doubles record of 1-3.

High School: Graduated from Z.L.O. im. Stefana Wyszynskiego in 2003 ... was National Juniors Team Champion with D.T.T. Dabrowa Gornicza in 2002 ... placed second in Indoor National U21 Championships in singles in 2003 ... was second in Outdoor National U21 Championships in singles and first in doubles in 2003 ... ranked No. 9 in Poland in singles ... in 2004, won the U21 Polish National Champions.
