The Texas Tech Red Raiders men's tennis team opened their season at home with a 6-1 victory over Abilene Christian on Thursday at the ATC.

Borut Martincevic, Jeugenis Cariov, Patricio Espinosa, Clay Estes, and Jeremy Earl all won their singles matches against the Wildcats. In the doubles matches the Red Raiders had similar success sweeping ACU 3-0.

Head Coach Tim Siegel commented, "Abilene played well. They are a good, tough Division II team. We were tested today. I'm pleased with the score, but we have to get better for UT-Arlington. We didn't play like a top 30 team today. We need to play better."

Texas Tech men's tennis will take the court again on Saturday, February 5, 2000 when they host UT-Arlington. The first match is set to begin at 10 a.m. in the ATC.
