Men's Tennis Falls to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the University of Arkansas today at the UA Indoor Tennis Complex in Fayetteville. The teams split the singles, each claiming three matches, but the Razorbacks dominated the doubles competition. Tech now moves to 3-2 on the season.
Ending with victories for the Red Raiders were sophomores Ryan Shupe, Adam Baranowski, and Carey Biorkman. Shupe edged out the Razorback's Oskar Johansson 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles. Baranowski won a 7-6, 6-0 decision over Arkansas' Darin Phelan, while Biorkman defeated Mark Serrilli 6-2, 6-4.
The loss comes at head coach Tim Siegel's alma mater, where he was a two-time All-America.
The Red Raiders continue action in Arkansas, heading to Little Rock tomorrow to play the University of Arkansas - Little Rock. The squad will face the next home opponent on Feb. 22 with a match against Texas A&M.
