SAN DIEGO, CA - The Texas Tech men's tennis team traveled to San Diego, CA this weekend to take-on Cal Poly and the University of San Diego. Tech won the first match of the weekend on Friday against Cal Poly, 6-1. On Saturday, the Red Raiders fell to No. 52 San Diego 5-1. The Red Raiders record is now 2-2.

Junior transfer Richard Crabtree was the only Red Raider to go undefeated for the weekend. He defeated Cal Poly's Nick Carless in two-sets, 6-1, 6-0. On Saturday he won in three-sets over Jason Pongsrikul, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Both victories came in the No. 4 position. Crabtree improves to 3-1 on the season.

Tech was not able to play doubles against San Diego due to the weather, but did win the doubles point against Cal Poly by winning two out of the three. Crabtree teamed-up with Ben Gudzelak to win the No. 1 position over Cal Poly's Brandon Fallon and Erin Carroll, 8-1. Tech also won the No. 2 position with Borut Martincevic and John Walker defeating Brian Kent and John Cappello, 8-3.

The Red Raiders return to action next weekend in the Lone Star State, but continue on the road in Arlington, Texas to take on the University of Texas-Arlington on Friday.
