LUBBOCK, Texas- - The Texas Tech men's tennis team crushed TAMU-CC with a 5-2 victory. The Red Raiders increased their winning streak to 11 wins, with a record of 11-1 and they are still 3-0 in Big 12 play.

Tech was able to finish with four of the single points. At No. 3, sophomore Esat Tanik prevailed over Luis Moris, 6-2, 6-4. Senior Devin Wakeford was victorious over Shahzeb Niazi at the No. 4 spot, 7-6, 6-1. Playing the No. 5 slot, sophomore Michael Innerebner was triumphant over David Plasencia, 6-0, 7-5. Senior John Walker was also victorious as he defeated Loren Collins, 7-6, 6-2. Freshman Diederik de Groot fell to Christophe Bergues at the No. 1 position, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. For the No. 2 spot, senior Alfonso Perez was defeated by Goncalo Figueiredo, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

"Corpus Christi has a very, very tough team," said head coach Tim Siegel. "We were fortunate to come out with a victory. I was a little disappointed with a couple of our players attitude, but I assure you that will be improved by tomorrow, it has to be."

The Red Raiders were also able to win the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and 2 position. For the No. 1 duo, de Groot and Wakeford defeated Figueiredo and Moris, 9-7. Perez and Tanik were able to overcome Bergues and Oscar Roman, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot. At the No. 3 slot, Innerebner and sophomore Jonathan John fell to Eusebie Oprea and Collins, 8-5.

The Red Raiders will be on the courts again tomorrow, Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. where they will play Northern Arizona.
