LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team swept Northern Arizona today for a 7-0 victory. The Red Raiders continued their winning streak as they increase their streak to 12 wins. Tech is now 12-1 for the season and remain 3-0 in Big 12 play.

At the No. 1 singles, freshman Diederik de Groot overcame Fredrik Jeppsson, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Senior Alfonso Perez prevailed over Daniel Lundstrom at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1. Playing the No. 3 position, sophomore Esat Tanik was triumphant over Thibault Schram, 6-1, 6-4. In the No. 4 slot, senior Devin Wakeford defeated Jeremy Coll, 7-6, 6-1. Sophomore Michael Innerebner conquered Francisco Lando at the No. 5 spot, 6-1, 6-2. At the No. 6 spot, senior John Walker trounced Jonas Jegers, 7-6, 6-4.

"This was a good win for us," said head coach Tim Siegel. "Northern Arizona competed well in a couple of spots. We are going to have to get ready for New Mexico State, three matches in three days is tough. We are going to have to come out with a win tomorrow to continue our quest for NCAA."

Playing the No. 1 due, de Groot and Wakeford vanquished Schram and Jeppsson, 8-3. For the No. 2 spot, Perez and Tanik beat Jegers and Lando, 8-6. At the No. 3 slot, Innerebner and sophomore Jonathan John thrashed Lundstrom and Taylor, 8-2.

The Red Raiders will be on the courts again tomorrow, March 16, against New Mexico State. The match is set to being at noon. There will be free pizza and shirts for all the fans.
