Senior John Walker was defeated by No. 99 Ivor Lovrak, 7-6, 6-0. "I think this was a good team effort," said head coach Tim Siegel. "Baylor is in the top four teams in America. The boys came and fought hard- we lost some tough doubles matches. They did what I asked, our No. 2 and 4 singles, Alfy and Devin, played really well. We were out classes in some positions, but their top three singles are nationally ranked. This will help us with our big trip to California."
In doubles, the Red Raiders were not able to come out with a victory. The No. 1 slot, de Groot and Wakeford fell to Becker and Papp, 8-5. At No. 2, Perez and Tanik were overcome by the duo ranked No. 35, Lovrak and Marin, 8-6. Playing the No. 3 slot, Innerebner and Walker were defeated by the No. 40 duo of Dorsch and Naurohr, 8-4.
The Red Raiders next match will be against UC Santa Barbara on the March 28 and San Diego on March 29. Both matches will be at San Diego, CA. The Red Raiders will continue to be on the road as they travel to Texas A&M on April 4 and Texas on April 5 to carry on Big 12 play.
