Men's Tennis Defeats Colorado, 4-3

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Texas Techs mens tennis team stayed alive today in the Third Annual Gaucho Tennis Classic in Santa Barbara, Calif., dropping #62 Colorado 4-3 Friday.
The #71 Red Raiders advanced in the consolation bracket after falling 4-0 to #18 Boise State in Thursdays opening round. Tech had lost to the Buffaloes in the teams first meeting this season.
Four singles victories boosted the Red Raiders in the UC Santa Barbara tournaments second round. Petar Danolic claimed a win for Tech in the No. 1 singles slot, defeating the Buffaloes Dony Papadia 6-4, 6-2. Senior Tylir Jimenez also dropped his opponent, winning 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. In the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, Carey Biorkman and Doug Lacy pushed out victories in three sets to give the Red Raiders the edge.
Eariler this season, Colorado went home with a 4-3 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock. Danolics win today came against the same opponent he fell to on Feb. 28. In the tournaments first round Thursday, Tech was defeated 4-0 by Boise State. With just three singles players and two doubles teams in action, Boise State took all four points to advance. Action continues Saturday as Tech plays San Diego State at 11 am (Central) at the Cathedral Oaks Club.
