College Station, TX - The Texas Tech men's tennis team fell to No. 19 Texas A&M, 7-0. The Red Raiders are now 13-5 for the season and 3-2 in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders will continue conference play on April 5 against Texas at 2 p.m.

In singles action, no one was able to come up with a win for Texas Tech. At the No. 1 spot, senior Alfonso Perez fell to No. 20 Ryan Newport, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. At the No. 2 slot, sophomore Esat Tanik suffered defeat to No. 35 Lester Cook, 6-3, 6-2. Playing at No. 3, senior Devin Wakeford was not able to overcome No. 62 Ante Matijevic, 6-0, 6-4. Sophomore Michael Innerebner fell to Khaleb DlDorry at the No. 4 position, 7-5, 6-4. At the No. 5 slot, senior John Walker lost to John Nallon, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6. For the No. 6 spot, sophmore Jonathan John fell to Cameron Fenner, 6-1, 7-6.

"It was a very good effort from the guys, playing a team ranked No. 19 in the nation," said head coach Tim Siegel. "They guys play hard, and left everything on court. I was real proud of how our guys played and we looked forward to playing Texas tomorrow. But like I said, I'm real proud of the guys and their efforts, they fought till the end in every match."

The duo of Wakeford and Innerebner played at the No. 2 slot and were victorious against Nallon and Loucks, 8-6. At No. 1, Perez and Tanik fell to the No. 3 ranked duo of Cook and Matijevic, 8-6. Walker and John fell to Newprt and DlDorry at the No. 3 spot, 8-6.

Next week, the Red Raiders will defend their home courts one last time this season. They will play Oklahoma State for their last conference game April 12 and then Abilene Christian April 15.
