LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team notched in their second conference win today as they took down the Oklahoma Sooners 7-0 at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The Red Raiders look to improve their 17-2 season record in Stillwater as they face the Cowboys on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Beginning with doubles, the senior duo of Ilya Babinciuc and Lenoir Ramos sunk in their second conference win at No. 3 over OU's Sergey Avdeyev and Alexandru Joitoiu, 8-3. Next Tech's No. 4-ranked duo of Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanski were upended by the Sooners Andrei Daescu and Federico Chavarria at No. 1, 8-6. Playing at No. 2, the No. 28-ranked team of Michael Breler and Sinisa Markovic clinched their fourth doubles point of the season for Tech by winning 9-7 against OU's Ryan Thomas and Vlad Marinescu.

Ahead 1-0, Tech rolled right into singles taking wins at all seven positions. Markovic and Breler continued to dominate as they put away the first two wins in straight sets, sparking a winning trend for the Red Raiders. Babinciuc tabbed in his third clinching victory for Tech at No. 4, edging OU's Chavarria, 7-6, 6-2.

Rounding out the match were the odd-numbered courts as both Ramos and Rojmar had wins in three sets playing in the No. 3 and 5 positions, respectively. Sealing the match for the Raiders was senior Szumanski who defeated his fifth ranked opponent of the season by edging the Sooners' No. 32-ranked Andrei Daescu, 6-4, 6-3.

"Today was a great win for us," said Head Coach Tim Siegel. "Oklahoma is coming off 4-3 loss to A&M, and I knew it would be a good match at their place. Fortunately, our guys played a solid match in singles. Now we look forward to our next match in Stillwater against a very good Oklahoma State team."
