Red Raiders Fall to New Mexico, 4-3

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team (12-9, 2-3 Big 12) fell to the New Mexico Lobos 4-3 today in the team's home finale at the McLeod Tennis Center. Seniors Royce Ramey (Richardson, Texas) and Richard Crabtree (Hebden Bridge, England) were honored for Senior Day and both players took home wins in their final home singles match. Ramey defeated New Mexico's Divan Coetzee at the number one singles slot, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Crabtree won a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 decision over Michael Polasek at the number three singles slot. Ramey and partner Devin Wakeford (Cape Town, South Africa) nailed down a win in the second doubles match over Bret Salazar and Ryan Stotland, 8-6. Freshman Michael Innerebner (Milan, Italy) also came up a winner for Tech, taking the number four singles slot in strait sets from David Kowalski, 6-4, 6-2. Tech will now take the road next weekend to conclude its regular season. The Red Raiders will face the Cowboys of Oklahoma State on April 20 at 1p.m. in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and will take on the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma, on April 21 at 1 p.m. The Red Raiders will participate in the Big 12 Championships on April 25-28 in College Station, Texas.
