No. 37 TCU Holds Off No. 46 Texas Tech, 4-3

FORT WORTH, Texas - The key to the Big 12 tennis match between Texas Tech and TCU took place in the first forty minutes of the match - the doubles point.
No. 37 TCU won a hard-fought doubles point and then held on for a 4-3 victory over No. 46 Texas Tech at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
All three doubles matches were extended on Friday. The No. 63 tandem of Nick Chappell and Will Stein edged Tech's Jeff Bryan and Felipe Soares, 9-7. Hugo Dojas and Raphael Pfister then topped TCU's Max Stevens and JT Sundling, 9-7. This set up the point at No. 3 doubles.
Superlano then picked up a quick straight set win over Pfister, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, to give the Horned Frogs a 2-0 lead. Texas Tech's No. 122 Soares cut the TCU lead to 2-1 with a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 2 over Dachs.
Zambon evened the score with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sundling at No. 5, but Facundo Lugones dropped Dojas, 6-1, 7-6, tp give TCU back the 3-2 lead. No. 94 Chappell clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Manzini, just before Tech's Wanderley picked up the last point of the day with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over Rodolfo Bustamante at No. 6.
Texas Tech will try and rebound at No. 19 Texas in Austin on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close out the regular season.
