Red Raiders Take First Round Match-up with Oklahoma State, 4-0

College Station, Texas - Avenging last weekend's lost in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the Texas Tech men's tennis team defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 4-0, in the first round of the Big 12 Championships in College Station, Texas, this afternoon. The Red Raiders (14-10) came out of the gate hot in the match winning the doubles point. The tandem of Richard Crabtree (Hebden Bridge, England) and Ben Gudzelak (Halifax, England) took the number one doubles match from Oklahoma State's Fran Krepelka and Matt Prentice, 8-4. In the third singles match Alfonso Perez (Guadalajara, Mexico) and Michael Innerebner (Milan, Italy) took an 8-3 decision from Loren Collins and Ben Facker. In singles action, Tech defeated Oklahoma State (11-8) in the number one, five and six slots to seal the victory. Royce Ramey (Richardson, Texas) finished off Matt Prentice in the first singles match, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Perez carried his doubles success into the number five singles match where he defeated OSU's Loren Collins, 6-4, 6-0. In the sixth singles slot, David Knaszak was a strait set winner, 6-1, 6-0, over Ben Facker. The Red Raiders will take on the top seeded Baylor Bears tomorrow at noon at the Texas A&M Tennis Center.
