LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Texas Tech men's tennis team concluded play at the New Mexico State Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday in the A singles flight, senior Devin Wakeford defeated Ben Archer-Clowes of New Mexico State, 6-2, 6-3; while freshman Diederik de Groot lost to Bart Scott of New Mexico, 6-3, 6-4. In the B singles bracket, sophomore Michael Innerebner defeated Ryan Stotland (UNM) 7-6, 7-6; and senior Alfonso Perez was victorious over Luis Avila (NMSU), 6-3, 6-1. In the C singles flight, junior David Knaszak defeated Dan Even (NMSU), 7-6, 6-4, while senior Ryan Davies beat Brent Salazar (UNM), 6-1, 6-3. In the D singles play, senior John Walker triumphed over Jasmin Hodzic (UNM), 7-6, 7-6.

In the doubles portion on Saturday, de Groot and Wakeford beat Divan Coetzee/David Kowalski (UNM), 8-4. Davies and Perez fell to Archer-Clowes/Mark Roberts (NMSU), 9-8. Innerebner and Walker lost to Hodzic/Stotland (UNM), 9-8.

On Sunday, Wakeford defeated Mark Roberts (NMSU), 6-4, 6-3, while de Groot lost to Coetzee, 7-6, 6-0 in the A flight. In the B flight, Innerebner was victorious over Avila, 6-2, 6-2 and Perez beat David Kowalski (UNM), 6-4, 6-3. In the C bracket, Davies beat Dan Even (NMSU), 6-1, 6-3, while Knaszak lost to Nick Ames (UNM), 6-1, 6-4. Walker was victorious over Anders Honisch (UNM), 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles play, Innerebner and Walker won over Ames/Honisch (UNM), 8-2, while de Groot and Wakeford fell Salazar/Scott (UNM), 8-5.

The Red Raiders will take the court again this weekend Sept. 27-29 in Waco, Texas at the Baylor Intercollegiates.
