Jeff Bryan Advances To Consolation Final At ITA Regionals
Jeff Bryan advanced to the consolation final on Sunday at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Tech’s Jeff Bryan advanced to the consolation singles final on Sunday at the ITA Texas Regional held at TCU’s Friedman Tennis Center. Bryan outlasted UTSA’s Diogo Casa, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) to reach the tournament final. Bryan was to face TCU’s Blake Wiggins in the final, but had to withdraw due to a leg injury. Bryan reached the semifinals after outlasting Alex Hilliard of Texas, 6-4, 4-6 1-0 (10-3) in the quarterfinals. Texas Tech teammate Evan Nix was not so lucky as he fell to Casa, 6-4, 6-4 in the consolation quarterfinals. Bryan and Nix were also ousted in the third round of the consolation doubles event, as Tommy Bennett and Adam Guftafsson of Rice pulled out an 8-4 victory. In other action on Sunday, Raphael Pfister and Gabriel Wanderely lost in the Round of 32 of the main draw, while Francisco Zambon and Vitor Manzini fell in the second round consolation bracket.
