LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team concluded its fall schedule today as No. 25 Raony Carvalho lost his consolation match in the 2009 ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New Haven, Conn.

The sophomore was defeated by No. 38 Javier Garrapiz (Georgia) in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on the campus of Yale University.

"Ray had a tough loss today," stated head coach Tim Siegel. "He had a lot of opportunities. He had a good fall and he will be ready to lead us next spring."

With the loss, Carvalho finishes the fall with a 7-4 singles record.

The Red Raiders will open their spring season on Jan. 23, at UNLV.
