Men's Tennis Continues Road Trip
Feb. 22, 2001 LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech men's tennis team will conclude its five-match road trip this weekend in the DFW area against the University of Texas-Arlington, Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24, against 4th-ranked TCU. The Red Raiders are coming off a weekend where they went 1-1 defeating Cal Poly, 6-1 and falling to No. 52 San Diego, 5-1. Tech now stands at 2-2 on the year. "We're going to be without two guys this weekend," said head coach Tim Siegel. "We hope to have Royce (Ramey) back in two weeks and Clay (Estes) is out this weekend as well. Although we have had some injuries, I really like this team. Everyone is a hard worker and everyday they come to play. We will see what happens. I expect a lot from Richard Crabtree and John Walker, who are both playing very well." Crabtree went 2-0 last weekend in the No. 4 position. He defeated Cal Poly's Nick Carless in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 improving his record to 3-1. Walker enters the weekend at 3-1 after splitting in last weekend's contests. The 2000 Southland Conference Champions UTA enters the weekend 15-8, 4-0 in the Southland Conference. The 6th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs are 5-1, coming off its one loss of the season against No. 3 UCLA last weekend.
Men's tennis will swing back into action following this weekend in Lubbock on Tuesday, Feb. 27, against Centenary at 1:30 p.m.
