Red Raider Men's Tennis Drops First Match of the Season February 21, 1999 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped their first match of the season today losing to Nebraska 4-3. The Red Raiders' overall record is now 5-1 and 1-1 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas Tech rallied from behind after losing the doubles point and the two singles matches of No. 2 Ryan Shupe and No. 3 Jevgenij Cariov. No. 1 Borut Martincevic, No. 4 Adam Baranowski and No. 5 Petar Danolic all captured victories to tie the match score at three a piece. In the deciding point, No. 6 Dustin Hawk lost a heart breaking three set match to Andrew Wiese, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, to give the Cornhuskers the victory. With the singles win, Baranowski improves his record to 6-0 this season. He is the only Red Raider remaining with a perfect record after Cariov lost his first match of the season to Jorge Abos Sanchez 7-5, 6-3. Men's tennis will see action on the road again next weekend when the play at TCU on Saturday, February 27, and the University of Texas-Arlington on Sunday, February 28. Nebraska 4 Texas Tech 3--TTU--
