LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team found themselves No. 23 in the ITA/FILA Collegiate Tennis Ranking released earlier today. Tech entered the season ranked No. 44, and has since gone 8-3 facing seven top 50 ranked opponents.

The last time Tech fell into the top 25 rankings was in 2005 when the men were ranked in the top 10 nationally and earned a berth to the NCAA Sweet 16 Championships. Coach Tim Siegel entered his 14th season as head coach confident that this year's team is among one of the top competitors in the nation.

"It's nice to be ranked in the top 25," exclaimed Siegel. "However, a lot can change in the next month and a half, as nine of our last 11 matches are against ranked teams. I feel we still have a lot of work to do to keep things going."

Tech is not the only Big 12 team to be ranked in the top 25, as No. 4 Baylor, No. 10 Oklahoma State and No. 13 Texas all line the top of the rankings. In addition, No. 35 Texas A&M and No. 42 Oklahoma also pile into the top 50.

The Red Raiders have this weekend off as they prepare for the Blue Grey Invitational on March 15-18. Here the team expects to see more stiff competition as they will go head-to-head against 15 ranked teams. For more information and complete results, visit
