Texas Tech Men's Tennis Opens with Win at Corpus Christi Invite March 5, 1999 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team opened play at the Corpus Christi Invitational in impressive fashion defeating 23rd nationally-ranked Minnesota 4-2. The Red Raiders improve their record to 7-2 on the 1999 season. The team opened the match strong taking the doubles point. The No. 1 team of Ryan Shupe and Dustin Hawk defeated Martin Michalowsky and Adam Selkirk 8-3. The point was clinched when the No. 2 tandem of Jevgenij Caroiv and Petar Danolic beat Tyson Parry and Dave Duenas 8-5. The Red Raiders had singles wins by No. 2 Ryan Shupe, No. 5 Adam Baranowsi and No. 6 Dustin Hawk to close out the match with the 4-2 victory. Baranowski runs his team best singles record to 8-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Thomas Haug. Texas Tech now advances to the second round to play Clemson. The Invite is scheduled to run through Sunday.
