LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis squad, 3-5, 0-1, will travel to South Texas this weekend to compete in the annual Corpus Christi Invitational. Play begins tomorrow and will continue until Sunday, March 11. The first serve for the Red Raiders will be at noon tomorrow against Louisville, 12-3.

Tech has participated in the tourney for four years composing a record of 6-10. Last year the Red Raiders won the first match against William and Mary, 4-2, but dropped the final three.

The squad is coming off a loss at home against 20th-ranked Baylor on Tuesday, March 6. Baylor defeated Tech 7-0 in the decision, winning each match in straight sets.

Freshman Ben Gudzelak enters the weekend 5-2, 0-1. He is 4-2 in the No. 2 position and 1-0 in the No. 3 position.

Junior transfer co-captain Royce Ramey looks to return this weekend after tearing his rotator cuff. He has competed in one match this season, where he defeated Walter Seidel, of Abilene Christian in the No. 2 position.

"I think we learned from the last match in which I felt we did not get a total team effort," said head coach Tim Siegel. "I am excited about Royce's return. I don't know how many matches he will play, but his presence on the court will only benefit the team."

Tech returns to action in the Hub City on Friday, March 16 at 1 p.m. to battle the University of Oklahoma.
