Texas Tech Men's Tennis Falls to Texas A&M
April 1, 1999 COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team lost to Texas A&M 5-2 this evening at the Texas A&M Varsity Tennis Center in College Station. With the defeat, Texas Tech falls to 12-7 on the season and 2-3 in the Big 12 Conference. Texas Tech opened the match by being swept at the doubles point. The closest match came at the No. 2 position where Adam Baranowski and Jevgenij Cariov lost to Brent Horan and Jarin Skube 8-6. The Red Raiders scored their first point in the match when No. 4 Cariov defeated Cody Hubbell in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. Petar Danolic supplied the remaining point with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over Keith From. Ryan Shupe, who had won eight of his last nine matches, lost to Dumitru Caradima 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. Another major test awaits Texas Tech next when they play the sixth-ranked University of Texas Saturday in Austin. The Longhorns (14-3) face Georgia on Friday before meeting the Red Raiders on Saturday. Texas has not dropped a match in Big 12 play this season.
