No. 44 Texas Tech Hosts Oklahoma State, No. 12 Oklahoma

Seniors Jeff Bryan, Raphael Pfister, Gabriel Wanderley and Vitor Manzini lead Texas Tech this weekend.

LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 44 Texas Tech will close out the home slate of the 2013 tennis season this weekend, as Red Raiders host Oklahoma State on Friday at 6 p.m. and No. 12 Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.

“This is a special weekend four us as we celebrate four seniors – Jeff Bryan, Vitor Manzini, Raphael Pfister and Gabriel Wanderley,” said Red Raider head coach Tim Siegel. “This group has been a part of some special teams here at Texas Tech and done some special things. They have not only represented our program well, but present the University and themselves in an outstanding manner.”

Texas Tech will host Oklahoma State on Friday night. The Cowboys are  11-10 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 play this season. OSU is led by Chris Haworth (10-8) and Brady Bohrnstedt (12-6).

On Sunday, the Red Raiders will host the Sooners on Senior Day. No. 12 Oklahoma is 15-5 on the season and 2-0 in Big 12 action. The Sooners are paced by Costin Paval (14-3), Guillermo Alcorta (14-2) and Dane Webb (14-5).

Texas Tech’s seniors have been key contributors to the lineup this season. Manzini (13-12) has anchored the No. 1 position, while Pfister has played  4-5-6 and gone 18-6 this season in singles. Wanderley (8-6) has also been a key contributor in the lineup and has filled in everywhere from No. 3 to No. 6 this season.

The seniors have also been mainstays in doubles, as Manzini has gone 13-7, Bryan has recorded a 12-5 record in dual matches, while Pfister is 11-5 and Wanderley is 7-9.

Over the last four years, this senior class has gone 69-32 and advanced to the NCAA Championships for three consecutive years.
