LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 conference announced today that Texas Tech men's tennis player Richard Crabtree earned Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors. The honor is the first for Crabtree and the Red Raiders this year.

This past weekend he snapped a two-match losing streak by defeating Nebraska's Adnan Hadzialic in straight sets in the No. 3 position, 7-6, 6-2. Following the win against the Cornhuskers, he defeated Colorado's Bryan Knepper in three-sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Crabtree of Somerset, England, teamed up with Ben Gudzelak to finish No. 1 singles with a 5-3 mark in conference activity.

He closed out the regular season the same way he began the 2001 campaign by winning four out of six. Crabtree finishes his first year as a Red Raider by posting a regular season record of 11-9.

The Texas Tech men's tennis team will return to action next Thursday, April 26th in Waco, Texas, at the Big 12 Championships on the Baylor Campus against the University of Oklahoma.
