Red Raiders No. 22 Heading Into Final Weekend




Raony Carvalho enters his final collegiate regular season match ranked No. 73.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech dropped two spots to No. 22 in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association men’s Top 25.

The Red Raiders (14-7, 3-1 Big 12) will close out the season against No. 15 Texas (16-7, 2-2 Big 12) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center. The winner will earn the No. 2 seed at the Big 12 Championships and a first round bye.

Gonzalo Escobar, the all-time wins leader at Texas Tech, is currently ranked No. 47, while Raony Carvalho, the Red Raiders’ first All-American, is ranked No. 73 in the ITA men’s singles rankings.

Escobar and Carvalho have teamed to go 8-1 this season. The tandem is ranked No. 29 in this week’s ITA doubles rankings.
