Lady Raiders No. 30, Red Raiders No. 35 Enterning Big 12 Championships

Both Texas Tech squads are ranked in the ITA Top 35 this week.

LUBBOCK, Texas – As Texas Tech enters the 2014 Big 12 Championships in Fort Worth on Friday, the Lady Raiders are ranked No. 30, while the Red Raiders are No. 35, according to this week’s ITA Top 75 Rankings released on Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders fell two spots after being idle last week, while the Red Raiders dropped eight spots.

The Texas Tech women have now been ranked for 96 consecutive matches in the ITA Top 75 rankings, dating back to Feb. 12, 2011, when Texas Tech entered the poll at No. 69.

The doubles tandem of Kenna Kilgo and Samantha Adams are No. 63 in this week's doubles rankings. The duo is 20-8 on the season, marking the third consecutive season the pair has reached 20 wins. The Lady Raider tandem has now been ranked for 46 consecutive matches, dating back to March 1, 2013.

The Red Raiders fell from No. 27 to No. 35 after losses to No. 47 TCU and No. 7 Texas. In all, the Red Raiders have been ranked in the ITA Top 75 Since March 14, 2002. It is a span of 315 dual matches over 12 seasons.

Individually, Texas Tech sophomores Felipe Soares and Hugo Dojas each jumped in the ITA Top 125 singles rankings. Soares soared to No. 64 from No. 108 after upending then-No. 49 Nick Chappell of TCU. It is Soares’ highest ranking since becoming a Red Raider. Dojas jumped one spot to No. 99 in this week’s Top 125 after splitting a pair of matches over the weekend. The tandem of Dojas and Maxime Hinnisdaels is ranked No. 87 this week, jumping two spots this week.
