LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 19 Texas Tech has had a goal all season - make a sixth straight trip to the NCAA Championships.

That goal was realized on Tuesday, as the Red Raiders earned the No. 2 seed in the California Regional of the NCAA Championships.

"I felt all along that we would be heading west," said Red Raider head coach Tim Siegel. "We have had a good season and we look forward to the challenge that this region presents."

Texas Tech will be joined in the region by host No. 14 California (12-11), along with No. 63 Cal Poly (15-7) and UTSA (13-10). The Red Raiders will face Cal Poly in the first round on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m. CT, while Cal will host UTSA at 2 p.m. CT.

Cal Poly won the Big West Conference regular season title and the Big West Championship title this season. Texas Tech won the only meeting against the Mustangs, 6-1, during the 2001 season.

California finished fourth in the seven-team Pac-12 Conference with a 4-3 mark. Texas Tech defeated the Bears, 4-1, last season in Lubbock. In the only other meeting between the two schools, Cal topped Texas Tech in Austin in 2010.

UTSA won the Southland Conference automatic bid after winning the conference tournament. They were second in the league during the regular season. The Red Raiders topped UTSA, 6-1 on March 23 at the McLeod Tennis Center. Texas Tech is 11-1 all-time against the Roadrunners.

Texas Tech is led this season by a trio of seniors - Raony Carvalho, Gonzalo Escobar and Rafael Garcia. Carvalho (15-7) is ranked No. 75 nationally, while Escobar (29-12) is No. 43 in the nation. Garcia adds a 17-14 mark in singles play.

The duo of Carvalho and Escobar are ranked No. 19 nationally. The pair are 10-1 this season playing No. 1 doubles.

Vitor Manzini adds a 21-8 record in singles and was the Big 12 Conference No. 4 position singles champion. Francisco Zambon (12-10) won the Big 12 Conference No. 6 singles position title.
