No. 22 Texas Tech takes on No. 63 Cal Poly In NCAA Championships

BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 22 Texas Tech will begin play in its 12th NCAA Championships on Saturday, as they take on No. 63 Cal Poly at 11 a.m. CT at the Hellman Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of California.
Texas Tech is the No. 2 seed in the Berkeley Regional, while Cal Poly is the No. 3 seed. No. 1 seed and host California will take on the No. 4 seed UTSA at noon. Both of Saturday’s winners will will face off for the right to advance to the Round of 16 in Athens, Ga.
“I think we have had some good practices leading up to Saturday,” said Red Raider Tim Siegel. “Cal Poly is a good team and we have to be prepared.”
Texas Tech is looking to return to the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since 2005.
“If we play like I think we are capable, then we can be successful here,” added Siegel. “It is just going to take a total team effort.”
Texas Tech is 5-6 all-time in the NCAA first round and 6-11 all-time in the NCAA Championships.
