SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis players Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar advanced to the doubles round of 16 at the NCAA Championships Thursday, topping Diego Cubas and Ivan Machado of South Carolina, 6-4, 7-5, at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.

After racing out to a quick opening set win, Tech was able to keep its momentum going in the second set, going up 4-2 quickly. The Gamecocks would rally, however, to win the next three games and take a 5-4 lead. Carvalho and Rojmar would make a comeback of their own, though, and win the final three games to move to the championship's next round.

With the win, the duo advances to face Dominic Inglot and Michael Shabez of Virginia Friday afternoon, after the duo beat the top ranked doubles squad from Mississippi.
