SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas Tech doubles duo of Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar was eliminated from the NCAA Championships Friday after falling to Virginia's Dominic Inglot and Michael Shabez, 6-3, 6-4, at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.

The Virginia duo, which upset the top-ranked tandem in the nation from Mississippi on Thursday, led the entire match as Tech was never really able to sustain much momentum.

"I thought our guys played well, but Virginia just played better," Tech head coach Tim Siegel said. "Raony and Christian are one of the most successful doubles teams in the history of the program, and this wrapped a great career for Christian, who qualified for the NCAAs three times in his career. It would have been nice for them to be named All-Americans with a win today, but Virginia was just the better team."

Carvalho and Rojmar end the season 21-13 overall and posted a 14-8 record at Tech's top doubles position in duals this spring. The duo was selected to the All-Big 12 doubles team earlier this month and entered the tournament ranked No. 15 in the nation.

The loss ends a successful career for Rojmar as the senior participated in the doubles portion of the NCAA Championships three times - twice with former Red Raider standout Bojan Szumanski.
