Raony Carvalho, Gonzalo Escobar Named ITA All-Americans|

LUBBOCK, Texas – A day after it was announced the doubles tandem of Raony Carvalho and Gonzalo Escobar recorded the highest year-end ranking in school history, the Texas Tech duo was award All-America status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Carvalho and Escobar, by virtue of advancing to the NCAA Double Championships final, have been awarded All-America honors in doubles. The national finalists finished No. 3 in the final ITA national rankings with a 14-2 record in doubles.
The duo only began playing together on March 10, but have been teammates for four years. Escobar is the winningest doubles player in school history with 82 career doubles wins, while Carvalho is second on the list with 72 career doubles victories.
Escobar, by virtue of advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Singles Championships, was also named an All-American in singles. He is just the second All-America selection in singles, as Carvalho earned the honor in 2010 after finishing the year ranked No. 20. He closed out the season with a school record 31 wins and ranks No. 1 in career singles wins with 99.
In the history of Texas Tech Tennis, Carvalho and Escobar leave a legacy as the only two players to ever earn All-America honors.
