Carvalho, Escobar Named To ITA All-Star Team|

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech seniors Raony Carvalho and Gonzalo Escobar have been named to the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Star Team, which features the nation's top-ranked players and national champions from the 2011-12 season.
Carvalho and Escobar are two of eight NCAA Division I players selected to the squad. In all, there are 12 men selected to the squad and 11 women.
The Texas Tech tandem finished the season as the national finalists in doubles and earned a No. 3 national ranking. Escobar, Tech's all-time winningest player, and Carvalho, the second winningest player in school history, earned All-America honors for their efforts.
This 29th edition of the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team includes the nation's top-ranked men's and women's tennis players from the season-ending Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA levels, as well as winners from the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships and 2012 NCAA Championships. Highlighting this year's team are the Campbell/ITA National Players of the Year: Steve Johnson of the University of Southern California and Nicole Gibbs of Stanford University.
These student-athletes will be treated by the ITA and United States Tennis Association (USTA) to a weekend in New York, highlighted by activities during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Saturday, Aug. 25. The group will be honored at the ITA awards luncheon, hosted by the USTA in the President's Dining Room Suite.
These festivities help kickoff the 2012 U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
