LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis team was one of 41 teams named as an ITA All-American Team that was announced today. In addition, former Red Raider standout Bojan Szumanski and seniors Jay Wofford and Michael Breler earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

The team award is open to any program whose student-athletes combine for at least a 3.20 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. All student-athletes who have competed in at least one match whether in the fall or spring are included in the calculation.

For individuals to earn Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and must have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

"We had a very good year on the tennis court, but I am just as proud of what we did in the classroom," Tech head coach Tim Siegel said. "Our players work hard both on the court and in the classroom, and I appreciate all they do for both me and the university."

The Red Raiders begin the 2008 fall season at the Baylor Invitational Sept. 26-28. Tech will once again host the Lubbock Challenger Sept. 20-28, at the McLeod Tennis Center.
