Hinnisdaels, Soares Advance To Flight Finals

HOUSTON - Texas Tech returned to the outdoors on Saturday and saw strong play from a pair of underclassmen on the second day of the 2013 Wyndham Houston Medical Center Rice Fall Invitational as the tournament returned to the Jack Hess Tennis Stadium.
Felipe Soares advanced to the Flight A Finals on Saturday with a straight set 6-4, 6-2 win over Arturs Kazijevs of SMU. Also in Flight A, Hugo Dojas advanced to the Flight A Consolation Finals after defeating SMU's Alex Sanders, 6-4, 6-3.
Highly touted freshman Maxime Hinnisdaels continued his winning ways, as the Belgian native tripped SMU's Native Lammons 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the Flight B Finals. Tech's Francisco Zambon was not as lucky, as he lost 6-4, 6-2 t0 Rice's Max Andrews and will play in the third place match on Sunday.
In doubles, Hinnisdaels and Dojas lost in the semifinals to SMU's Kazijevs and Mischa Nowicki, 8-4, while Soares and Napolitano advanced to the consolation finals in Flight A after topping Tulane's Alex and Ian Van Cott, 6-5 (7-4).
In Flight B Doubles, Di Laura and Zambon have advanced to the finals after dispatching Leif Berger and Philipp Seifert of Rice, 6-5 (7-5) in the semifinals.
Play will resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Jack Hess Tennis Stadium.
