BALTIMORE, Md. - Borut Martinevic (Maribor, Slovenia) of the Texas Tech mens tennis team won his first round match in qualifying play for the main draw of the National Clay Court Championships in Baltimore, Md. Martincevic defeated Joel McGregor of Tulsa in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Martincevic, who has not lost a set in pre-qualifying or qualifying play of the tournament, improves his record to a perfect 8-0 in fall tournament play. He will take the court tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. for the second round of qualifying play. If successful, he will play in the final round of qualifying later in the day in which the winners advance to the prestigious tournaments main draw.
