Three Compete at UTSA Invitational|

LUBBOCK, Texas - With the fall tournament schedule well under way, the Texas Tech men's tennis team sent three to participate in the University of Texas-San Antonio's yearly invitational. Play began Fri., Oct. 5, in San Antonio, Texas, at the UTSA Tennis Center.
Looking to gain more experience on the court, Tech sent juniors Ilya Babinciuc, Milos Kustudija and James Wilson to compete for the Red Raiders. Babinciuc led in singles for the group as he advanced to the finals by defeating players from Louisiana-Lafayette, A&M-Corpus Christi, and UTSA. In the finals yesterday morning, Babinciuc narrowly missed Texas' Miguel Reyes Varela losing in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.
Kustudija suffered a first round loss at the hands of Varela in straight sets, but was able to go 2-1 in the consolation bracket falling 6-2, 6-3 in the finals of the consolation bracket. In the white draw, Wilson also went 2-1 defeating players from Tyler Junior College and Texas-Pan American, but lost to Jimenez from Monterrey Tecnológico, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles, Kustudija and Wilson paired up winning 8-4 in the first round against Phiri and Cypert from TJC. In the second round, the two were topped by host UTSA's Morgado and Becker, 8-4.
